Stronger Together: How Collaboration Builds a Brighter Future for Central Ohio’s Children

02/21/25

At Action for Children, we believe in the power of partnership. We know that communities are strongest when parents, educators, and organizations work together to support the well-being of young children. From empowering early childhood educators to equipping parents with vital resources, we strive to create spaces where connection and collaboration lead to lasting change for young children in central Ohio.

Collaboration is at the heart of every impactful initiative. It’s seen when an early care and education professional connects with training opportunities that enhance their ability to serve children. It’s felt when families access parenting workshops that give them the tools to raise resilient children. It’s demonstrated when policy makers, nonprofit leaders, and business communities unite to advocate for sustainable early childhood solutions. In short, we are stronger together.

The challenges facing early childhood education are not new, but the urgency of our collective response has never been greater. As recently as the end of January, the abrupt federal funding freeze sent waves of uncertainty through the nonprofit sector. Overnight, vital programs that families depend on were at risk, creating chaos and fear for providers and parents alike. But amid the uncertainty, one thing became clear—when communities unite, we can weather any storm.

Nonprofits, advocates, and community leaders came together to raise their voices, ensuring that the needs of young children and families were not overlooked.

This moment serves as a reminder that in times of crisis, collaboration is not just beneficial — it’s essential.

Action for Children creates opportunities for connection because we know that learning and growth happen best in community.

This month alone, Action for Children has offered:

  • A Trauma-Informed Care conference hosted in partnership with Nationwide Children’s Hospital to strengthen child care collaboration in central Ohio and equip child care providers with the knowledge and tools to better support children facing adversity.
  • Workshops and Training for Child Care Providers, giving early educators the resources they need to enhance their skills and provide high-quality care.

Action for Children is more than an organization—we are a hub for connection. We bring together stakeholders, policy makers, and community members to drive forward the changes needed for a stronger, more equitable child care system.

  • Engaging in policy discussions that ensure child care remains a priority in local and state decisions.
  • Partnering with schools, hospitals, and nonprofits to provide holistic support for families and children.

With less than sixty days into the new year, events have reinforced a simple truth—we are strongest when we stand together.

Whether through advocacy, professional development, or community engagement, Action for Children is committed to working hand-in-hand with families, providers, and community leaders to build a brighter future for our children.

Let’s continue to lift each other up, because together, we can create lasting change.
