Meet the Leadership Team: Dana Wright

07/30/24

“Who are you and what are you doing here?” is a time-honored question at Action for Children that reflects our culture of curiosity and passion for what we do. To get to know the team that’s driving the work forward at Action for Children, we’re turning the question around on our Leadership Team!

Who are you and what are you doing here?

My name is Dana Wright, and I serve as the Director of Organizational Measurement and Performance at Action for Children. In this role, I collaborate with our exceptional finance and program staff to establish an accurate, efficient, and transparent process throughout the grant life cycle—from proposal to closure. This involves pre-award management, fund tracking, report generation, system creation, monitoring, and post-award management.

How did you get here?

My passion for working with children began at a young age when I babysat for the family next door. Over time, those three children became like family to me. As I entered college, I knew I wanted to work with children and families in some capacity. After earning my Bachelor’s degree in Child and Family Community Services, I started my career as a School Age Child Care Coordinator. Later, I transitioned to Head Start, where I held roles as a Family Support Specialist, Family Case Manager, and Assistant Family Partnership Services Coordinator while pursuing my Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Early Childhood Education. Since joining Action for Children in March 2006, I’ve served in various capacities, including Family Wellness Specialist, Team Lead, Coordinator, Director of Family and Community Engagement, Managing Director of Programs, and now as the Director of Organizational Measurement + Performance.

What excites you about your role?

Data is a fascinating realm that captivates me for several reasons. Using data, we can gain Insight Discovery, use it in Decision Making and Innovation and demonstrate Impact of our work. Data is both a tool and an adventure—a way to explore, understand, and create.
